Revamping

I will be revamping this blog and giving it a complete face lift. If you want featured sellers and artisans I will still have my blog on wordpress... This blog I will still be devoting to the joys of handmade and the items that I find that just have to be bragged about. So stick with me as I make some changes and take this blog one step further...

:::EDIT:::

I am going to be switching over to a new blogger. I just got so fed up with this one that I just said screw it, I give up so I'm I am starting fresh and starting over.

:::THE PLAN:::

I intend to keep the Wordpress blog as my Feature artisan blog, this is going to be where I will feature any sellers and keep it strictly businesslike. This is because I like the way they have it set so I can link photos to the listing quick and easy. The new blog which is www.goinghandmade.blogspot.com will be set up primarily as my way of sharing with everyone the joys of my work, works in progress as well as anything that I just think is cool... Things will be redirected as soon as I get everything underway and the start going...

New Blog

I have started a new blog that will focus on artists and the joys of the handmade culture. I have switched to a new venue in order to give me a little more flexibility in how I can post my features. So if you enjoyed reading about my Artist Features then you will love my new blog.

I have great artists featured and will continue to have great artists and the best that handmade has to offer. I am able to link my photos so feel free to click away and see the joys that I am hoping to bring to you!

I am very excited to be able to return to bringing you closer to the artist and introduce you to things that you may have never known...

Featured Seller - LittleSharkPress

Meet the amazing people behind Little Shark Press!

"We are a solid team of two who started out printing a chimp on a piece of newsprint...hail almighty Czar of the Apes! Then we created custom place cards for two friends' weddings. Suddenly, we had a full-blown home-based business on the side, born out of the excitement of working for ourselves."

In this turn of events this amazing shop has begun to sell their screen printed goodies on ArtFire.

What is Little Shark Press you may ask... Well, it is an independent screenprinting company that is unique in the fact that they are, "creating unconventional designs, using eco-friendly water-based inks and sweatshop-free apparel. Why? Because it makes us feel good, and it makes your goods look good!"

All of their products are completely handmade by 2 hardworking people who make sure that each and every piece that is sold is of the highest quality so you are sure to get the best items around.

My first sale on Art Fire

Well, I must be doing something right because my first sale from the new Art Fire site just came in today. I am super excited and now glad I was listing today. I have so much stuff that isn't listed on my Etsy site so I'm going to have to get photos of that stuff and get them listed. I have an amazing Butterfly weave chainmaille bracelet that isn't listed along with a pair of chainmaille earrings.

I think I just need to get my butt in gear and get my camera going big time tomorrow and see what all I can get listed.

I guess we all can figure out how I'm gonna spend the day.

Well, here is my new shop: http://www.nightmaiden.etsy.com

And if anyone is interested in seeing what all this site is about, come on in and sign up for only $7 a month... Plus if you sign up as one of the first 5000 members at that price you'll lock in that monthly flat rate and never pay a penny more. This is great since after those 5000 people sign up it will go back to $20 a month. You don't want to pass up an amazing deal like that do you? I didn't think so so get in there: http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=sevenforlife&afuid=3648

Well, I have stuff to make and stuff to plan to make. I have a great idea for a new series of bracelets and necklaces. These are going to be my Chakra Series. I can't wait to get the supplies for them...

Sell for $7 a month... For Life!!!!!!!!

Have you checked out Art Fire yet!!!! I am super impressed with it. Its still in Beta but it is rapidly growing because they actually buy advertising to get more traffic!!!!

Its super easy, amazing and the listing process is so easy. You actually get stats for your shop, you can upload 10, yes 10 photos for each item. And the best thing, for the first 5000 sellers to join up for the $7 a month, lock in that price for life!!!!!!!! You will NEVER pay any more than that, how awesome is that.

Plus, they will plant a tree for ever member that joins!!! How awesome is that! Save the enviroment by setting up a shop to sell your own goods...

We have a great community so come check it out and just remember when it asks for member referral, please let them know that Nightmaiden sent you...

Decisions, Decisions...

I have finally been able to get some of my photos uploaded but I have been having such a hard time choosing pictures... I have some amazing shots and then I have some that I digitally enhanced with processing techniques. This is one of the pictures that I enhanced with 2 different techniques.

The original shot:

A stunning picture in itself. A beautiful scenic shot looking down the Colonial Parkway, taken November 9th. The beautiful autumn leaves in all their glory.

This shot I did with an Early color process called Auto chrome:

This amazing process was patented by the Lumiere Brothers in France and marketed in 1907. I love the feel of this shot and the lighter color tones.

The next was using a Cross process technique:

This process greatly exaggerates and enhances the colors, making the contrast much higher than in the original.

I love all three shots and love the difference of the alterations but I don't know which one I like better. I may even put all three up on Etsy, maybe even do a combo pack... That would be interesting...

Meet Julia of xsimplycharmingx

This young lady has been crafting for as long for quite some time. "I have been crafting for as long as i can remember. I used to take art classes during the summer."

Just like most of us, the crafting bug began at home with her family. "My mom has always done crafts. She is a photographer, potter, and cake decorater. My dad has always done wood working so i come from a long line of crafters."

She now puts her skill into her Etsy store called Simply Charming where she shows off a varied line of products. She began her shop with cell phone and wine glass charms and has grown into adding journals as well. However, this is not the limit of her craftiness. She also loves to scrapbook and is also into graphic design.

Her shop is new and just getting started but is destined to be a success. " I am doing this so I have a creative outlet. I love creating and etsy is the perfect way!" Of course, the crafting bug has taken hold and is growing rapidly.
